For the Dutch Mill Association, the Allemolens.nl portal has been realized. Tis portel contains information about all existing and disappeared mills in the Netherlands. Allemolens.nl is the starting point for all the mill research with many images, archives, literature and building drawings.
Allemolens.nl not only unlocks the collection of the Dutch Mill Association, but also searches the image collections of the National Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Zaansche Mill Association. The intention is to link the mill collections of more heritage institutions to Allemolens.nl.
The interesting thing about AlleMolens.nl is that by searching for an existing or disappeared mill, all the related information can be obtained for this mill. This provides a wealth of information about the history, location and technique of the mill.
Extensive search screen
Atlantis is at the base of this portal. Both the mill database and a large number of related collections are built, managed and made available in Atlantis. With this, many volunteers have been very busy and are still there.
External databases are also included in the search. For example, the collections of the RCE and the Zaansche mill are searched, while searching for the collections within Atlantis.
In the extended search, the collections can be searched individually or in the desired combination. The dynamic behavior of the search form for Atlantis is then well presented. For each collection or combination of collections, the corresponding search form will be displayed so that the collections can be searched for the most.
Detail page of a mill
For a found mill, if it is a missing mill, it is also linked to the database of disappeared mills. If there are predecessors or successors of mills, they are linked. Based on the mill number, other resources are linked, which can be displayed with an additional search.
Also, the location of the mill can be presented on a Google Map.
This portal is an editing of the public space of Atlantis. This made to its own wishes regarding the functions and design so that it fits seamlessly within the vision and corporate identity of the Dutch Mill Association.
All of the offered collections are managed through the Atlantis management environment. This is the environment at which employees and volunteers build, manage and make available. Copyrights, disclosure restrictions, and other issues that prevent publication are described in the management environment and are automatically honored at the time of publication.

All collections allow links through OAI-PMH, so that third parties can collect the collections, as far as this is permitted. For example, the image collections are available at Europeana. Both the portal and the management environment are hosted through the hosting environment of DEVENTit.
For the future, the Dutch Mill Association has a platform that can be expanded in any way. Through new modules and services, Atlantis’s operation can be broadened and enhanced. In addition, it has the ability to connect external systems as a supplier of information or to provide information. Due to the availability of mobile environments on the Atlantis platform, the availability of phones and tablets is at your fingertips. In short, with the Atlantis, the Dutch Mill Association has chosen continuity and future prospects!
