2nd World Botanic Garden Scientific Congress

The 2nd World Botanic Garden Science Congress will be held in Delft, the Netherlands, on 29 June - 4 July 2008. The title of the Congress is Challenges in Botanical Research and Climate Change and the main themes are Conservation and Climate Change, Bionics, New Systematics and Future Issues.

We hope to meet you at this exciting congress at which we will inform you in various ways about the latest development concerning our collection Management Application Altantis Botanic Garden. In corporation with participating Botanic Gardens we also launch a new initiative: The Botanic Portal. This Internet Portal gives access to the plants and taxa information from the databases of connected botanic gardens.

The Thematis Botanic Portal (http://www.thematis.nl/botanicportal) is a new initiative to bring plants and taxa information from different gardens together in an easy and cost-effective way by making use of modern Internet technologies.

Most portals today with the same aim die in their effort to centralize information because it’s hard to maintain lists of links, centralized search indexes or copied collection information. The Thematis Botanic Portal avoids those downfalls. Click here for more information about this portal.

Availability and pricing

Atlantis Botanic Garden is available for testing and purchase. If you’re able to give us access to your system through the Internet, we can install a test version of the application. Please contact us for more information about this option. Based on your needs, a suitable offer can be made. For every first organisation of a country which purchases the software and is willing to serve as a reference to other gardens in their country, we’ll have a special offer available. Also for connecting your Botanic Collection Management System or database to the Botanic Portal we can provide you with additional information.
