Atlantis Botanic Garden

Atlantis Botanic Garden is a standard application on the Atlantis platform for collection management in Botanical Gardens. The database and program design was done in cooperation with DEVENTit and the Botanical Gardens of the universities of Utrecht, Amsterdam, Delft, Leiden and Wageningen in the Netherlands. Now it's in use at other Botanical Gardens in the Netherlands as well. Since the 3rd Botanical Gardens Congress in Wuhan China, the application is available for Botanical Gardens World Wide.

It was nice to meet you at this event. Through the poster area and presentations given by Hans Persoon of the botanic garden of the University of Utrecht, we’ve tried to inform you of about the possibilities and availability of the Atlantis Botanic Garden collection management application.

We were very pleased with the interest in our product. The reactions were very positive and the information material was gone well before the end of the congress. Therefore we provide you with the possibility to acquire this information on-line. Check out the following resources:

Maps and Google Earth

The use of maps is a standard feature of Atlantis Botanic Garden. A map can be any picture in a standard image format. Selected accessions are presented on the maps on the fly. Spectacular is the coupling of Atlantis Botanic Garden with Google Earth. By selecting the accessions which has to be presented, Google Earth can automatically be invoked as the environment in which the locations are presented. This feature is standard available within the application.

We’ll meet again in Delft

On 29 June - 4 July 2008 the 2nd World Scientific Congress is held in Delft, the Netherlands. The title of the congress is “Challenges in Botanical Research and Climate Change” and the main themes are Conservation and Climate Change, Bionics, New Systematics and Future Issues. Of course we will be present on this event and we hope you will be too.

State of the art collection management and support

The Internet is a key factor in our software and support options. Atlantis BG consists of a Windows based management application which gives optimal efficiency in the build, management and making available of the collection information. For access to the collections an Internet connectivity option is available.

For implementations and support, DEVENTit makes use of a non-intrusive remote support tool, called ISL Light. With this tool a user can give DEVENTit permission to obtain control of keyboard, mouse and screen so installation or support can be carried out. The support tool is non-intrusive, which means that it acts transparently through firewalls without installation or configuration. At any time the user remains in control, can follow the actions taken and break-off the connection. With this facility implementations and support can be easily given, no matter the distances.

Availability and pricing

Atlantis Botanic Garden is available for testing and purchase. If you’re able to give us access to your system through the Internet, we can install a test version of the application. Please contact us for more information about this option. Based on your needs, a suitable offer can be made. For every first organisation of a country which purchases the software and is willing to serve as a reference to other gardens in their country, we’ll have a special offer available.
